I love decorating for Christmas. I'm no Martha Stewart but I still enjoy it. I love the peaceful feeling ushered in by the month of December. And all because of the celebration of our Savior's birth.
Here's what we've done at our house.
When Mema (Brad's grandmother) moved into a retirement center, she held an auction with pretend money. All adults received the same amount and the children received a smaller amount. Whatever she didn't want to take with her, she auctioned off. I won the wooden sleigh above (we put our Christmas cards in it), the Christmas wreath on our front door, a tea set she and Papa brought back from Japan, and some other smaller things. It was a fun way to divide up her things. Mema also gave us the above piano. I love having the things that used to be in their home. They are special reminders of what a beautiful family we're a part of.
Before Grandmommy and Granddad (Brad's paternal grandparents) died, they began giving Brad and me pieces of this beautiful Lenox nativity set as Christmas gifts. Brad continued the tradition which makes the gifts all the more special. It sits on our dining room table.
Happy decorating!
