Are you ready?

The Lord is near. Philippians 4:5

The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen.  Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20

Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless.  2 Peter 3:14

Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:22-24

You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of  the Lord is at hand. James 5:8

I love this reminder from January 24th's reading in Daily Light.

Are you ready?

If you heard the shout of the archangel and the trumpet of God right now, would you be ready?

The Bible is clear that there is one way to God the Father, Creator of the universe, and that is through his Son, Jesus Christ.    In John 14:6 Jesus says, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."   (emphasis mine)

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." John 3:16-18 (emphasis mine)

There are lots of ideas out there that suggest salvation, an insurance card, so to speak, an entry to heaven.  But the Bible is clear... only those who accept Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as Lord of their life will enter eternal salvation with our Heavenly Father.  It's a free gift.  You can't return the favor. You can't pay for it.  You can't earn it.  You can't do ANYTHING but accept the gift of Jesus Christ as Lord over your life.
