Tonight Grandpa and Granny (Kerith's parents) announced at dinner that after our meal, we were going out for surprise. The kids could hardly stand it and gobbled up their beef stew and veggies without compliant. They even ate their sweet potatoes! After dinner the 5 of them loaded into the car and headed to Double Dips for ice cream, while Brad and I cleaned up the kitchen and watched the season opener of 30 Rock. Woo Hoo! So glad it's back on!
When they got home, Kirsten opened her birthday present from Grandpa and Granny which included clothes, the much desired Webkinz Alley Cat, Slamwich card game and this new big kid Bible. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have a big kid Bible to read with the girls at night. I mean, how many times can you read the same stories to them? Not that telling them these stories more than once isn't important but I want to get into the "meat" of the Word more.... less stories, more Scripture. And actual verses that they can memorize, not just concepts and paraphrases. Yeah!
Thank you, Grandpa and Granny, for such lovely gifts. And thank you for encouraging us to teach our Lord's Word to our children. What an incredible gift to have the the words of the Creator of the universe at our fingertips!!!
Here are the kids with Grandpa:
And after opening Kirsten's gift, the kids and Daddy wrestled... always a favorite pasttime at our house!
