The kids asked if sometime this summer we could have a birthday party for Shadow. The shelter guessed her age to be around 2 so Brad declared that August 6 would be her 3rd birthday. Kirsten had grand ideas of decorating the backyard and inviting friends and their dogs. Since it's literally 110 degrees outside, we were able to nix the backyard decor and since Shadow goes berserk barking and growling at other dogs, we thought is safest to include only our family (insert BIG SIGH OF RELIEF from Mommy!!!). Nonetheless this Not-Such-a-Big-Fan-of-Dogs Mommy had a party to plan.
Brad and the kids headed to a friend's birthday party so I spent the morning baking cupcakes for humans and a peanut butter carrot cake for dogs. I went all out with the birthday wreath, subway art birthday sign and goodie bags for humans. It was actually fun!
Shadow enjoyed her cake and liked her gifts (stuffed rabbit and cupcake, ball and dog treats).
